The Admiral Graf Spee & Admiral Scheer were Deutschland-class warships. Though relatively small by traditional battleship standards, they were well armored and were equiped with battleship type of armament. This led to them being nicknamed ‘pocket battleships’.
The Admiral Graf Spee & Admiral Scheer were superb commerce raiders. TheAdmiral Scheersuccessfully plied the Atlantic and Indian Oceans, disrupting merchant shipping wherever it went. Admiral Graf Spee met it;s demise when she was famously cornered during the Battle of the River Plate and skuttled.
