The Deutsches Afrika Korp was sent to bolster their struggling Italian allies in North Africa. Commanded by the legendary Erwin Rommel, the Afrika Korps fought a series of ferocious battles in Egypt and Libya. The Deutsches Afrika Korp Infantry were supported by the dreaded 88 (8.8cm Flak) and the ever-present Panzer IV. Making Erwin Rommels Afrika Korps a dangerous adversary for the opposing British Commonwealth.
Referred to as the last Gentlemans War, the German soldier fought in battles at El Alamein, Tobruk and Gazala. They were revered by their opponents and their tactics in the desert had a profound and deadly effect on how British armor and infantry formations interacted with one another.
